Filmmaker Kavitha Lankesh
chooses a rather quiet and meaningful life path and is always in news for making a difference in someone's life. And, this time it is for helping those affected by the pandemic. She has been and continues to help mobilise funds for daily wage actors in the industry who have been affected by the lockdown and the pandemic in general. "The COVID-19 pandemic has been a harrowing time for all of us and as the middle class people thought the lockdown was a time to unite with our family, but when we saw outside that there were so many who were helpless and needed financial aid to help stay afloat. And being from the film industry we saw the plight of daily wage workers and that's when I decided to pool in money," she said. Kavitha also helped a lot of women sex workers affected by the lockdown as well as children. And, her efforts would be recognised on Women's Day at the second edition of Orion Wempower, a women's day festival will be held on March 7th and would focus on felicitating real life women achievers who made a difference during the Covid-19 pandemic. It may be recalled that last year, her brother filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh had also honoured the contribution of senior actors in
Kannada film
industry. And ahead of his birthday, the director was seen felicitating five senior artistes at a city hotel. "It is such an honour that on my birthday I am felicitating senior artistes who have been in the industry for decades and all have worked with my father and some with me as well," shares Indrajit. Urging the industry to join hands in helping senior artistes and technicians, Indrajit added, "With the seven months of lockdown, many senior actors who are above 65 years of age, are now without a steady income and job.
