It is not for any small reason that 6-5=2 is blamed for the flood of horror films in Sandalwood in the last one year. The huge success of that film made by the then unknown makers created a trend that can still be felt. At least one in four Kannada films made after 6-5=2 in Kannada had elements of horror. So when Krishna Chaitanya, who produced it came back with his second film Karvva, it seemed like it was just one more horror film. However, the film is turning out to be quite something. The film's distributor, Jayanna, explained the films growing success.'On the first day, most multiplexes gave the film only one show. By the end of the week, many of them have five shows a day. In the second week, fifty more single screen theatres are screening the film. That is a huge improvement for any kind of film. We usually see the number of screens dropping in the second week for all films, but Karvva is an exception,' he said. The film is directed by newcomer Navaneet and buoyed by the success, the team is planning a sequel for the film, something that Krishna Chaitanya did not try with his first film even.
Six other films released on the same day Karvva released. 'We had no other option but to release the film anyway. But we had full confidence in our film which has been proved. It is once again proved that good films will be supported by the audience no matter what,' he said. Another film that has caught the fancy of the audience is Godhi Banna Sadarana Maikattu that released last Friday. Just a day after the film's release, exhibitors are demanding the film for screening at their theatres. Even this film is set to expand its screens over the week. But their biggest test will arrive next week in the form of Jaggu Dada. A big star's film has not released in a while and Darshan's latest is likely to disrupt the market.
