The actors of Karvva ' Tilak Shekar, Anu Poovamma and Rohit ' open up about their style sense to Bangalore Times
What does style mean to you? Anu Poovamma (AP): I wear what suits the occasion, but it should be comfortable. Tilak Shekar (TS): Being you, and not trying to ape who you are. It is your personality that comes across as style ' how you dress, how you walk etc. You can't copy style. 'Are you brand conscious?
AP: As a girl, I can't only go for only brands as we need variety.
Rohit (R): I am a local guy. I like my check shirts and jeans, and I do not go by tags. I believe simple is stylish. TS: I don't believe in brands as I mix and match. I have my own sense of style. For me, fit and cut matter the most, and that is when I opt for brands. I want things that suits me, rather than something that is in trend. 'Do you have a particular obsession? TS: I am crazy about shades and boots, so you will always see me in them. When shopping, I will first pick these two things. I also like perfumes; smelling good is very important.
R: I have 42 pairs of shoes, and loads of shades. AP: I am a compulsive buyer when it comes to handbags, sandals and lipsticks. I have around 80 pairs of sandals ' some of which I don't even remember. You will be surprised to find that most of them are flats, as I am quite tall (5'8'). I also love shorts. In fact, I once made my dad ask the my principal if I could wear shorts to school. The request was denied, of course! 'Tilak, why do you wear shades indoors? TS: These are called day nighters. It's just that I have been working really hard and have been having sleepless nights. So, there are dark circles I need to hide. Also, I hate makeup and try to go without it even while shooting. So, I try to be in my own skin and glares is something that I can't do without. 'Also deep-necked T-shirts have become synonymous with you' TS: We used to have ties in school, which I think is ridiculous and is a kind of torture in summer. So, I used to wear my tie hanging low, with a bit of my chest exposed. I would always be told by teachers to button up. Though I managed that in school, after getting out in college, I started following my own style because in a tropical country like ours, minimal clothing should be the key. I used to love jackets before, but thanks to global warming that has faded off. 'Any beauty regimen you hate? AP: I want to look good, so I accept all things willingly. But yes, I wish we didn't have to get waxing done. TS: I can never try waxing! The whole idea of someone ripping off hair from your body gives me goosebumps. But at the same time, I am not comfortable with the idea of hairy girls. So I have huge respect for them. I really admire them for all that they go through. 'What does your workout regimen consist of? AP: I started working out just last year and do a combination of gym and yoga. I love sweets, but am trying to cut back. TS: I started working out just after college and since then, I religiously follow my gym routine. I don't skip it even for a day, come what may. That one hour of workingout is completely reserved for me. 'Also, I don't crave sweets and actually like bland and healthy food, so it works for me. R: I do basic workout five times a week, and eat healthy. 'Is there a fitness idol you admire? AP: I like Shilpa Shetty, and people tell me I look like her! TS: I admire all those who have a healthy lifestyle. Today, every second guy has got a good body, but I admire people who live a healthy life. But, as for names, I think that Salman Khan started it all, and I admire him. R: My fitness idol would be Dr Rajkumar. You can't imagine a man at 60-70 being that flexible! 'Anu, you have a tattoo on your back. What does it mean? AP: It is a lucky charm. Actually, I did not spare much thought when I got it done. I went to a friends house and she was getting a tattoo, so tagged along and got this. I also have a naval piercing, which I got done in college. TS: I do not like tattoos, but if I ever get one ever, it will be the Om symbol. R: I have a tribal celtic band tattoo on my right arm, which is more like a barbed wire. I used to like Dwayne Johnson, and this tattoo was inspired by him.
