Karunas's business of comedy!

He is not into the petroleum business. Nor is he part of the telecommunications sector. And no, one out of every four investors in India is not a shareholder in his company.
Yet, his name ��������� if the posters are to be believed ��������� is Ambani and he hails from Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli. ���������When I���������m 13, I run off to Chennai aspiring to become another Ambani and do menial jobs there to achieve my dream,��������� reveals actor Karunas, talking about his film Ambasamudram Ambani that���������s releasing today.
So, does he become as rich as Ambani? ���������Ah, that���������s a secret,��������� he smiles, ���������Watch the film to find out.��������� The movie marks Karunas���������s journey from the dusty lanes of Dindigul (he played the lead in Dindigul Sarathy) to the lush fields of Ambasamudram.���������After the success of Dindigul Sarathy, expectations increased. So, when I decided to sign my next venture, I was doubly careful. When Ambasamudram Ambani came my way, I couldn���������t say no. The film is a realistic portrayal of a lower-middle-class man who strives hard to pursue his dream. My character���������s motto in life is ��������� Nambikkai than vaazhkai. It gives the message to be confident in all your endeavours. Navneeth Kaur of Arasangam fame plays my love interest,��������� gushes the actor.
Karunas had recently rued that most of the actresses in K-town had refused to act opposite him though they were offered good roles. ���������Yes, but they never gave reasons. But I���������m not bothered now because I too realised that, after all, it���������s one���������s personal choice. Who am I to force anyone to act with me? Whoever fits the character well, and can add a little bit of glamour, can be my heroine.���������
Have responsibilities increased after becoming a hero as the film is now entirely on his shoulders? ���������Definitely! But a comedian too has a pivotal role in the film. For instance, when the Dhanush-Aparna Pillai starrer Pudukkottaiyilirunthu Saravanan failed to cast its magic, I was blamed. Critics wrote me off saying that I should not even have been considered for the role and I was one of the prime reasons for the movie���������s debacle. But when I paired up with Dhanush in Devathaiyai Kandein, Thiruvilayadal Aarambam, Polladhavan and Yaaradi Nee Mohini (which did well), I was appreciated. That���������s when I understood that the comedian is not only the hero���������s sidekick.���������
With leading comedians like Vadivelu and Vivekh too having turned heroes, is there a competition among them? ���������I do not consider myself to be in the same league. After all, I started my film career only nine years ago. My only concern is that my films should appeal to the entire family and portray reality,��������� explains Karunas, who also has projects like Endhiran, Ilaignan and Baana Kathadi lined up.
On a lighter vein, quiz Karunas if he would show his latest flick to the Ambani brothers ��������� Mukesh and Anil ��������� and pat comes the reply. ���������In fact, I did send them an invitation for the audio release of the film but they didn���������t turn up. But, I���������m planning to send them a copy of my film,��������� he winds up.
