Rukmini Vasanth was recently seen in 'Madharaasi' and will be essaying the role of Kanakavathi in the highly awaited sequel, 'Kantara: Chapter 1'. The movie which is directed and led by Rishab Shetty, is expected to be in the last phase of its production stage. Latest updates reveal the female lead has completed her dubbing of the film.

In a social media post, the 'Ace' actress shared a light-hearted video from the recording studio. She was seen having a fun time lending her voice to the character. In the caption, she wrote, "Kanakavathi Coming Your Way".

'Kantara: Chapter 1' is the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster 'Kantara', which was made on a budget of Rs 16 crore and went on to make Rs 407.82 crore worldwide.

The upcoming film is a prequel that takes place several centuries ago to the events that happened in the 2022 film. As per Gulte, the story is set in 300 CE during the reign of the Kadamba dynasty. The film includes the mystical forests of Banavais and within the sacred woods divine spirits are said to have first awakened.

The film includes Jayaram, Rakesh Poojari, and Gulshan Devaiah in key roles. It will be released in multiple languages, aiming for a pan-India release and will hit the screens on October 2.
