Kantara: Chapter 1': Atlee drove two and a half hours in Amsterdam to watch Rishab Shetty's film

Rishab Shetty's '' is being celebrated across the nation and globally. The film is being praised by filmmakers, and fans are its spellbinding effect. Recently, 'Jawan' director shared that he drove for over two and a half hours in Amsterdam just to watch the film on its opening day.

Atlee's admiration for Rishab Shetty's filmmaking

In a conversation with India Today, the 'Theri' director shared that despite being abroad, he couldn't resist catching Rishab Shetty's much-awaited prequel. "I was in Amsterdam when the film was released. On day one, I watched it in theatres. I drove for about two and a half hours to the theatre to watch it. Immediately after, I called Rishab, who is a good friend of mine and someone I have great respect for," Atlee said.

A National Award-worthy performance

He also shared that Rishab Shetty, for his performance in the film, in a dual role as an actor and director, deserves to win the National Award. Atlee lauded him for something unbelievable.


Calling him a great inspiration for all filmmakers, he said, "After seeing the film, I can say he is a wonderful inspiration for all filmmakers. What he has pulled off is something that is not humanly possible. As a director, I can say it is incredibly difficult to execute such a film. But he's also the actor in it, the hero and it's not just a character to play. It takes a lot of rhythm within you to bring that out."

During the same conversation, Atlee also shared about his next film, 'AA22xA6'. He shared that he is aiming to make a film that will be "addictive to watch."

'Kantara: Chapter 1' is a prequel to his 2022 superhit 'Kantara'. The film includes Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in key roles.

Meanwhile, Atlee, after 'Jawan' success, is currently working on his next directorial venture, tentatively titled 'AA22xA6', featuring Allu Arjun in the lead. The film also stars Deepika Padukone and is said to star Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna.
