Kannada filmmaker Shahuraj Sindhe

succumbed to a

heart attack

this morning. The filmmaker, who has made memorable Darshan starrers like

Snehana Preethina

and Arjun, died in his Bengaluru residence. He had two films that were nearing release stages - Champion and

Rangamandira

.

Sindhe, according to people close to him, led a very active and healthy lifestyle, but had previously suffered from heart related ailments. The filmmaker was scheduled to travel to Mumbai today for the post production work for his upcoming film and had a flight in the morning. It was when he was getting ready for the same that he had a sudden cardiac arrest that he succumbed to.

The filmmaker's film Rangamandira has Ashu Bedra and Praveen Tej in the lead, while it has Ashika Ranganath, Anupama Gowda and Shruthi Prakash as the female leads. The film is all ready, according to the team. The release of the film was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has caused many films to be stuck owing to the closure of cinema halls until recently.

His other film Champion introduces a new hero, while Aditi Prabhudeva is the female lead. The film is supposedly in the post production stage. Sindhe began his career as an assistant director to late D Rajendra Babu and has worked in some important films before he went on to work as a director. He made commercial films like Snehana Preethina and Arjun, both of which starred Darshan in the lead roles. The filmmaker, we hear, was also prepping to announce some new films.
