Kannada film team has an unforgettable experience in Kashmir

Read on...
The team of the upcoming ensemble hyperlink film

Dayavittu Gamanisi

had an interesting experience in Kashmir, when they had gone to shoot portions of a song in Srinagar. The song features actor

Avinash Shatamarshan

and is about his journey of becoming a spiritual guru in the film. Director Rohit Padaki recounts how their days in and around Srinagar will remain etched in their memories, given what they saw there.
'We were travelling to

Kargil

after shooting portions of Dayavittu Gamanisi in Srinagar in the morning. We heard a lot of gruelling stories and about the happenings in Srinagar. For almost four months, schools and colleges were shut because of a hartal. We interacted with common people there who were very courteous and friendly; most of them Muslims. All they wanted was peace. It seemed that they were least bothered about the political unrest there. All they expected was freedom to live peacefully and children returning to schools,' says Rohit.

He goes on to add, 'Our car had its windshield broken by stone pelting, and we were asked not to open windows for 80 kms from Srinagar. While driving through the heavenly roads of Srinagar, we noticed some walls that had offensive slogans all over them. We were shocked and disturbed. When we asked about who was behind it, nobody knew. All they knew was that some people were intentionally trying to create unrest ' all in political interests. They were in pain because their tourism was hit. I was worried about the education system there. I met my uncle who works at a school in Srinagar, who told me his school will be attacked if opened. The situation was rather disappointing. We had to shoot in Srinagar early in the morning when there is no turbulence. Luckily, we were able to shoot on Dal Lake as well.' This particular song was shot in Delhi, Amritsar, Punjab, Srinagar, Kargil, Leh, Ladakh and Pangong Lake over a period of seven days. It is a travel song, in which a common man's life changes and he becomes a spiritual guru.
