Why do some children runaway from home?

Kannad film Haaro Hakki explores this

Kannada

film

Haaro Hakki

(Flying bird) is an attempt at deconstructing the reasons for some children running away from home. Shashikumar, who runs several educational institutions and an education research centre in Bengaluru, decided to make a movie on the subject after coming across many such incidents in his career.

"Whether the problem is at home or in school, one needs to understand why children run away. Though this is a common social problem, there is very little research done on it. There's little awareness among the people. We have tried to address the issue through a film so as to reach out to more people and create awareness. The film is not just for entertainment, it has a purpose behind it," Shashikumar said.

The film is directed by

Nagaraja Harehole

who has also written the story and dialogues.

Shruthidhar

and Shreya play a school-going brother-sister duo who are caught up in an escapade they have no control over. The others in the cast include Prabhakar and Ganesh Rao.

"Senior actress Leelavathi and

Vinod Raj

watched the movie and said they were moved. That is the biggest compliment I have received. Now it is time to reach out to a larger audience," Harehole said.
