Bengaluru actor Gulshan Devaiah is spending a lot of time watching old films these days. It's all part of his preparation for a period drama directed by Soni Razdan. And what makes these jaunts to movie halls special is not the popcorn, but the fact that he's making them with his co-star and good friend Kalki Koechlin. Having known each other since 2006 ("She's good friends with my wife too.
We shop and go on holidays together"), the two have worked together in films such as Shaitan and That Girl in Yellow Boots. So much so that he wouldn't mind a new co-star for a change, a chuckling Devaiah told the diarist. "Every second person I meet for a film tells me they're approaching Kalki for the role opposite me next. And I really don't know why! I wouldn't mind making some new friends," he says with a laugh.
To prep for the film, the actors are watching cinema from the times as well as the European films they think upper class Indians may have watched at the time - among them Roman Holiday and Rebel Without a Cause.
