Jayamala snubbed at Centenary Celebrations?
It has been reported that Dr Jayamala, former president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, was dealt a bad deal at the recently-held Indian Film Industry Centenary Celebrations that took place in Chennai. The former actress was among the eight dignitaries that were supposed to be felicitated at the function by the President of India, but received a rude shock instead.
According to reports, Jayamala’s felicitation was dropped as there wasn’t enough time for it, but when asked about this, she had denied the news and called it a mere rumour. Despite this, the veteran actress attended the centenary celebrations, but was left with a bad taste in her mouth when security guards at the event allegedly asked Jayamala to move out of the awardees gallery and sit with the spectators.

It is reported that this is when she realized that she had indeed been passed over for an award, and left the auditorium immediately.
According to sources, each dignitary was allotted just 20 seconds for the presentation of their award. Since the profile of many celebrities could not be completed in the short time frame, authorities restricted the number of dignitaries from each state to seven. It is said that due to this, Jayamala’s name was dropped and she did not receive an award.
