I’ve always considered myself to be a fighter, says Rishika Singh
Rishika Singh is back where she feels she truly belongs — facing the camera. The actor who met with a gruesome accident three years ago was bedridden for a while, but she is now well on the road to recovery and is back on her feet. “I’ve always considered myself to be a fighter and despite the grievous injuries, I decided to use a wheelchair after a while. Then I graduated to using crutches. An influencer, whose videos I was following online, helped me forge this determination. Her videos inspired me because she was doing such cool things with her wheelchair and crutches. She taught me the visualisation technique, and here I am doing exactly what I visualised. And that’s facing the camera and dancing away with my crutches,” smiles Rishika.
‘I was partying before I met with the accident, but I was not drunk’ Rishika met with the accident on her way back from a family do over a year back. “And it became headlines with everyone asking me,’we heard you were partying before this mishap.’ I knew what they were insinuating, but I wasn’t drunk that night. I genuinely love music and dance and that is what I was up to that night, too. So when I healed enough to move around with my crutches, my friends held a party for me in Chikamagalur. On the way there, I played a song from the film that I was all set to direct; it was to go on the floors around the time I met with the accident. My friends loved it and so did some foreigners who were at the resort where we stayed. I knew we had a hit song in hand and decided to turn it into a single,” states Rishika.
‘I will never give up partying’The song has been penned by Rishika and the title is Party party time aithu, okay maga. “It’s been choreographed by Mohan, an assistant of Harsha master. I have directed the album, while Achu Rajamani has scored the music and some artiste friends revamped it. So now it’s a tranada number — trance in Kannada. It’s a lovely dance track and I have some amazing dancers with me. Of course, I am using my crutches and dancing away in the video. There are two things that I want to convey with this: I have healed and that nothing is impossible. Also, don’t shy away from an aid if you have a disability — carry it with style,” she tells us. “And yes, I will never give up partying,” signs off Rishika.
