Babu Antony is making the most of his time in Bengaluru. The
Malayalam
actor has been enjoying taking a stroll on Church Street and around Brigade Road, running into surprised fans – Bengaluru used to be home for him for over 15 years. Now settled in the US, the actor-martial artiste is back in India after two years for a bunch of upcoming projects.
“It’s nice to be back in India, meeting fans and taking selfies. Bengaluru used to be home; I have a house here and many friends, so it feels great to be back,” says the 55-year-old, who has worked in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bangla and many other language films.

Mani Ratnam 33 years ago in Anjali and he is thrilled to be working with the ace director again in Ponniyin Selvan. “It feels great to be working with him again. Everything about him feels the same – the same energy, dedication and even the same smile,” Babu laughs, adding that he is portraying the role of a king in Ponniyin Selvan, the first part of which is expected to release in summer.
A slew of films lined upBesides this, a host of projects – most of them Malayalam – await the actor, who made his film debut in 1985. Talking about his new projects, he says, “The shoot for my film Headmaster by National Award-winning director
Rajeev Nath is set to begin in March. After that, there is Santa Maria, in which I play a journalist. In my next, I'm playing a priest in the upcoming film Kadamattathu Kathanar by TS Suresh Babu. And then comes a 100% action film called Power Star, which is a multilingual film by
Omar Lulu.”
Babu also recently shot for the film The Great Escape. The US-based production also featured his wife and two sons. “My eldest son, Arthur Antony, is serious about acting. He takes theatre in his school and is a black belt in mixed martial arts,” says Babu, adding that several projects are lined up right now and if everything goes well, he will be sticking around in India for a while.
