Disha Madan is making her
red carpet debut at the
Cannes Film Festival, and she says she’s still wrapping her head around it. “I keep asking my husband, Shashank, to pinch me, so that I know it’s real,” Disha tells Bangalore Times. Excerpts:
‘I MANIFESTED BEING AT CANNES THIS YEAR’To be able to share the same space with some of the most talented minds in cinema is truly a dream come true for me, and I manifested being there. I also feel extremely special to be chosen from Bengaluru, and to play a small part in representing my film industry on a global platform.
‘SUSTAINABLE FASHION IS ALWAYS IN STYLE’When you think of a red carpet, the outfits are almost always gowns. But I’m excited to showcase my heritage at the event. I have worked closely with designers like Avni, Shloka Sudhakar, Tejaswini Anjan Kumar, and Bhoovi Kilpadi to repurpose
Kanjivaram saris into outfits.
‘THE LEGACY OF THE KANNADA CINEMA IS STILL RELEVANT TODAY’Legends like Puttanna Kanagal, Girish Kasaravalli, Shankar Nag, and Vishnuvardhan paved the way for Kannada cinema five decades ago. I want to share this with the world when I am at Cannes.
