Iti Acharya has her hopes pinned on Kavacha

She hopes it will be the turning point of her career
She has played a cop, a villain girl and even a ‘horrible wife’ (her description of the character in Dhwani). Finally, Iti Acharya plays a role close to her own life in the Shivarajkumar-starrer Kavacha. And is she ecstatic? “This the biggest film of my career, the biggest crew and with the biggest actors,” she said.

Iti plays a Punjabi girl in the film. “My school years were in Punjab. My father had a transferable job and the best years of my life were spent there. So, it was easy for me to play a Punjabi. I still have lots of Punjabi friends and know how they react, behave and express. I can read and write Punjabi,” she said. Iti is a Rajasthani who grew up in Punjab and is now settled in Bengaluru. “I came to Bengaluru for my college education. I started modelling and got into films,” she recalls, speaking

. “That made it easy to approach the role. But the director has remodelled the character a bit. He has moulded it to suit my personality,” said Iti. The film has a huge cast that includes Vasishta N Simha, Ravi Kale, Tabala Nani and Isha Koppikar. Iti hopes her role in Kavacha will open the gates for her to do romantic roles. “Commercial films may make it look cliched. But I love to do romantic roles with songs. There is a nice romantic song in Kavacha as well for which Imran Sardariya (dance choreographer) gave me beautiful moves. I am confident that my role in Kavacha will help me be seen in new light as an actress,” she said.
