A Bangalore bandh was called by pro-Kannada outfits on Thursday to protest against the growing number of crimes against women and children. While the bandh was observed partially, the Kannada film industry said that it supported the bandh, but the industry continued to function as normal; none of the activities were halted since they didn’t have enough time to announce the bandh. On Wednesday evening, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president HD Gangaraju told journalists that
Sandalwood supports the bandh and since they can’t participate in it completely, the film industry is planning its own bandh soon.
Shooting schedules were not hampered with, but Crazy Star V Ravichandaran did things a little differently. He cancelled the shoot of his upcoming film
Apoorva in a show of solidarity with pro-Kannada activists. Sources said that although the actor supported the bandh, he said that it wasn’t enough to stop crimes.
