Is Salman Khan a threat to Upendra?

Bangalore Times had reported earlier that Upendra’s next film, Super Ranga, will release on the Real Star’s birthday — September 18. It is common knowledge that the movie is the remake of the Telugu hit Kick, which was remade into Tamil and, more recently, Hindi. The Hindi version, also titled Kick, starred Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez, and was a huge hit, with several people in Karnataka also queuing up outside theatres to watch it.This has got insiders whispering if this will affect the outcome of Super Ranga, since Salman’s Kick released fairly recently (July 29).
Producer K Manju and director Sadhu Kokila have made no qualms about the fact that Super Ranga is a remake of Kick. They have, however, said that the film has been modified to suit Upendra’s image, and therefore to make it more appealing to Kannada audiences. While this may very well be the case, the stories of both the movies are likely to be quite similar, so will people flock theatres to watch Upendra’s movie? Only time will tell...
