I was shocked: Roopika

In the time since Roopika made the transition from child artist to lead actress in 2008, she has time and again been quoted as saying that she���������d love to do socially-relevant realistic cinema with a message.
But when a film like that did come her way, little did she reckon that it would deal with the life of serial rapist and killer Umesh Reddy. ���������When the film was offered to me, my first reaction was that of shock.I wondered what my role would be like. But when the script was narrated to me I figured that its realistic subject apart, the film has a good message for youngsters of today. There���������ll be no song and dance and every scene will be intense,��������� says the actress, adding that her character is not set in the time that Umesh was going on his crime spree. ���������My role has a message for the youth,��������� she says about her character in this Aditya Ramesh Combines production.
This film, like many other of Roopika���������s films has an ensemble cast and stars popular actors. While Ravi Kale stars as Umesh Reddy, her film Gharshane has veteran actor Malashri, and Beera has Shubha Punja. Isn���������t she worried that she���������ll be overshadowed by the other actors? ���������Not really. Working with senior actors is always a learning experience. But that apart, I���������ve always been careful in my choice of roles; they���������ve always had an impact. The fact that I have been able to make the transition from child artist to adult actor itself shows that people have noticed me as an actress,��������� she says. Since her films so far have not been very successful at the BO, is there anything she would have done differently? ���������No, I���������ve loved the work I���������ve done so far and I am sure that my fortune will change this year.
