I wanted my hair to go to someone who needed it more than me: Sangeetha Bhat

After undergoing a major surgery in July this year, hair loss became an unexpected part of actress Sangeetha Bhat’s recovery. But that did not deter her from doing a good deed. “The day I got out of the surgery, I decided that I wanted to give my hair to cancer patients,” she says. The idea was not impulsive. “It was always on my mind. I had not cut my hair for a very, very long time because I knew I wanted to donate it," she adds.

Sangeetha reached out to Cancer India, carefully packed the required 14–15 inches of hair, and sent it across. “They make it very convenient. You just contact them and a courier comes home,” she explains, adding that the process felt thoughtful and dignified.

“I’ve never done anything like this before,” she admits. “But it felt good doing it,” she adds. What began as a personal healing journey became an act of empathy, one that, in her words, had “always been there in my mind” and finally found its moment, she tells us.
