"The older the fiddler, the sweeter the sound”— this is how
Indrajit Lankesh describes himself as he turns a year older today. Unlike most people, Indrajit doesn’t like celebrating his birthday with a party; instead, he does something meaningful. In the past, he has spent his birthday with underprivileged children, and this year, he is going to the Siddaganga Matha, to take blessings of Shivakumara Swami, and donate his father’s books to the students there. “I hope that my father’s writings inspire the kids,” he says.
Indrajit wears many hats — a journalist, TV personality and filmmaker. Currently, he is busy shooting for his
Bollywood
movie, the
Shakeela biopic that stars

. The talkie portions of the film are complete, with only a couple of songs left to be shot. Richa, he says, has taken a break of 20 days to get into shape for the songs. “She had put on weight to get into the skin of the character. She has asked for 20 days to get into shape for the songs, for which we have onboard
Sunidhi Chauhan, Vishal Mishra and a Sufi singer,” he says.
When we ask him about his plans for the year ahead, Indrajit says, “Once I am done with the movie, I want to take my father’s writings online. I want to keep him alive through his writing, and with the digital platform, I can ensure it reaches more people across the world.”
