Kishen Bilagali can’t recall a moment where he’s not been surrounded by animals. “My dad’s a farmer, so we’ve always been surrounded by all sorts of animals. Also, my brother is a pet groomer, so he’s always around them, too,” Kishen tells us. Having moved out of his home in Chikkamagaluru to live in Bengaluru when he was 16, Kishen says his pet here helps him feel less lonely. “I don’t feel like I’m alone because of my pet, Panther.
It’s like I have someone to take care of, and vice versa. The best part about being a pet parent is the happiness that comes with them. I can have a long and tiring day, but the minute I’m home, Panther showers me with so much love and it all feels bearable,” he adds. “Back home, we have 10 dogs, out of which eight are rescued. A lot of people buy big breeds and then give them up when they realise it’s hard work to take care of them. So we rescue them and take them back to the farm where they can live a happy and healthy life,” he tells us.
