I like to surprise myself and see how much I can push the envelope: Ramesh Aravind

An actor must constantly seek to reinvent himself. It’s a non-negotiable not just for the audiences, but for himself. If not, it can get quite monotonous. So, as an artiste, I like to surprise myself constantly and see how much further I can push the envelope,” shares Ramesh Aravind, who has chosen to once again to undergo an image change for his upcoming flick, Daiji.

While the film belongs to the horror-fantasy genre, Ramesh says he loves how he is able to test himself as an actor when new-generation directors come to him with such stories. “Since I love observing people and updating myself in keeping with the times, I love how energetic and upbeat these filmmakers are. I relate to them wholeheartedly. It’s the same with Akash Srivatsa, who is directing Daiji. My look in this film is entirely his brainchild, and I appreciate the clarity he has in conveying the concept of the movie and yet, not fully disclosing what it is about,” adds Ramesh, for whom Daiji will be the 106th Kannada movie.
‘Where science ends, belief begins’Akash has based this film on a true story in the life of Ravi Kashyap, who is backing this film. “Ravi and his wife were living abroad, and were expecting their first child when they stated experiencing strange occurrences. It was unbelievable to others, but to this day, only they know what they underwent at that point. That’s how life is... we connect everything to science, but until it happens to us, we don’t believe that there are things that go beyond logical explanation. Daiji — which means blood relatives in Karavali and a matter of concern in Japanese — explores this realm. Ramesh sir’s look is about conveying this concept,” sums up Akash, who also helmed Ramesh Aravind’s Shivaji Surathkal 1 and Shivaji Surathkal 2.
