With a background in television and parallel cinema, Apurva Bhardwaj made a foray into commercial cinema with films like Critical Keerthanegalu and Nodi Swami Ivanu Irode Heege. “I like to explore every shade of character there is to explore. With my upcoming film, Bad, I will be stepping out of my comfort zone. Having come from an urban background, I am your typical Kannadiga girl who breaks into Kanglish at times. And with Bad, I’ve wholly broken out of this mould,” she tells us.

While her earlier flicks saw Apurva essaying mature roles, here, she plays an emotionally high-strung character. “She is the only daughter of a politician. She doesn’t have a mother. Her father is affectionate but busy, which leaves her craving for the love she’s always wanted from a mother. It makes her behave a certain way and that to me was extremely appealing. In a way, my role forms the crux of the film and I like the dimension she brings to the film,” says Apurva, who is all praise for her director PC Shekhar for etching this role.
