Raghavendra Rajkumar-starrer

Rajatantra

, which releases tomorrow, will be the first Kannada

film

to release in 2021. The

actor

plays a retired

military

officer in the film. Speaking to an English daily, the actor says that he is glad to be offered scripts that have a message in it. "During this comeback stint of mine into cinema, I have been offered more message-oriented scripts. I feel this is the happiest part of my film career. The story is about how a military officer, post his retirement, looks at the country. It also indirectly touches upon various corruption links, drugs, gold price and ammunition,” he was quoted as saying. The film also stars Bhavya, Doddanna, Srinivas Murthy and Shankar Ashwath in key roles.

The project is directed by

PVR Swamy

and marks his debut in Sandalwood as a director. Raghavendra talks about working with PVR Swamy and says, "PVR Swamy, who was associated as the DOP for Ammana Mane, has come up with a lovely story, and he was keen that I play the role of the military officer. The best part of the film was that its entire shooting was completed in 10 days."

The trailer of the film was launched a few days back by actor and brother Puneeth Rajkumar. This will be Raghavendra's third movie since his return to acting, after a long 15-year break. His previous two releases were Ammana Mane and Thrayambakam in 2019.
