Former Miss Supranational
Asha Bhat has been making slow inroads into the Indian film industry, with a Hindi film first (Junglee) and then the second film in the Kannada film industry with the
Darshan Thoogudeepa starrer Roberrt, which was the first blockbuster of 2021.
Asha has since been waiting to sign her next film and there have been many speculations with regards to the same.
Asha had spoken to us about her love for cinema and how she is ready to do any kind of film as long as it is interesting and allows her to showcase her talent irrespective of which language it is being made in. “When I decided to start doing films, I was clear that language was not going to be a barrier. Yes, I began with a Hindi film, but I really wanted to do a film in the south, Kannada specifically. As everyone knows, I have roots in Karnataka, my folks live in Bhadravathi and my mother tongue is Kannada. As an actor, this is my way of entertaining my people with my acting or my dance. When I got Roberrt, I must admit that not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I will get a debut like this. Since the day, my casting was announced, even the team took pride in saying ‘namma Kannadathi’, so, yes, everyone’s been welcoming, but I have also worked hard to live up to that,” she had told Bangalore Times in an interview earlier this year.
