I always knew I would sing for dad someday: Sanvi Sudeep on her Kannada playback debut
Live performances come naturally to me, but the studio is different. The mic picks up every detail, so you have to be extremely aware of your breathing, diction and energy. It really pushes you to be more precise
What makes Masth Malaika even more meaningful is that it marks Sanvi’s first collaboration with her father. “I always knew I’d sing for him someday, but I’m glad it happened with Mark. There’s a great buzz around the film, and I’ve seen how hard he’s worked on it,” she says. “This project is very close to his heart, and being part of it makes it extra special for me.”
‘There wasn’t pressure, just excitement’
Being a star kid often brings expectations, but Sanvi says she kept her focus clear. “Of course there are expectations, but I didn’t think about that while recording. I was just focused on doing my best,” she says.
Singing in Kannada came more naturally to me this time. Earlier, I struggled with a few words, but now I’m much more comfortable. For Masth Malaika, my mind was fully on making it a high-energy, full-on item song. The recording sessions were fun and upbeat — I always groove to the beat while singing
