When SD Arvinda set out to make his next film, after Last Bus, things just fell into place for him as far as funding for the project goes. “Satish Pathak was a co-producer on Mojo, a film that I had composed music for. He is an NRI based out of the US and was in India for the release of the film, during which time we met up at my office briefly. I was working on some basic ideas for my next, Mataash, and Satish was intrigued by the caricatures we had done for the subject.
I told him briefly about the story and we left it at that. He returned to the US and nearly two weeks later, called me to say that he was interested in backing the project. He even got some of his classmates and friends, Chandrashekhar Manur, Roopa Badigar and Anand Chittawadgi to invest in the film. Girish Patel, who is also on our list of producers, came onboard quite by chance. A newbie in films with a background in the construction business, Girish was looking for a director to work with when one of my college friends suggested my name to him. He then called me and once we met and discussed the story of Mataash, Girish was keen to collaborate,” explains Arvinda, whose Goals & Dreamz has produced the film along with CROMS Media and Balamani Productions.
Eventually, it turned out well for the director, as he worked with people who were not regular filmmakers and, therefore, understood and supported a story that he believed in.
