Distinguished professor Narayana Hosmane, who made some meaningful Kannada films and was associated with a few Hindi films, has been conferred with the ‘Election to the Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences’ honour.
A professor and researcher of cancer from Northern Illinois University, Hosmane made films like Raghu Romeo that won more than 12 awards.
He was also a co-producer of Kannada films Meera Madhava Raghava, Ramya Chaitra Kala, Mukhaputa and E Preethi.
Hosmane, who is the second Kannadiga to get this honour after Prof. CNR Rao, is reported to have said that he always wanted to be a member of the US National Academy of Sciences, and added that if there is a choice between Lakshmi and Saraswati, he would always pick Saraswati, because this gives one a true identity by being born as a human with a superior brain to uncover the mystery of nature.
