Head Bush will narrate underworld don Jayaraj’s origin story: Shoonya

Head Bush, set to be released next weekend, is based on the autobiography My Days in the Underworld, penned by Agni Shridhar. It follows the story of Bengaluru's first underworld don, M P Jayaraj. The film is directed by Shoonya.
While this film may mark his debut as a director, Shoonya says he has been working in the directorial department since 2009. "I had worked as an associate director for Avanne Srimannarayana, a movie that had humongous sets. I also have an MSc in digital film making. I have used all my academic learning and practical lessons I earned by working on films to craft Head Bush. Of course, Agni Shridhar, who has been the backbone of this film, made my work easy. He has focused on every detail of Head Bush to get it right," he says.
He adds that though M P Jayaraj has been the subject of many Kannada films earlier, Head Bush will showcase his early life and how he became a leader of an organised underworld in the 1970’s. "Jayaraj will be the main focus, but there are also other powerful characters like Samson, Kotwal Ramachandra, MDN, and Ganga. We have recreated the 1970s and gotten rid of unnecessary commercial elements to keep the look realistic," says Shoonya.On working with actors Dhananjaya, Vasishta N Simha, Yogi, Balu Nagendra, Ravichandran Devaraj, and Sruthi Hariharan, he adds,

"They are all very humble and co-operative and that made working with them a pleasure." He also mentions that the script for the Head Bush sequel is also complete. "We are waiting for Dhananjaya's dates. He has to undergo yet another body transformation to portray Jayaraj's look in the second part," concludes Shoonya.
