She has been active on the campaign trail for two days now and
Harshika Poonacha is enjoying every bit of it. The actor is in Gadag since Sunday to garner support for BJP candidate Shivkumar Udasi and is likely to stay on until Tuesday, the last day for campaigning.
"I've been visiting Gadag for the Gadag Cricket League for the past few years and share a bond with this town.
Women and youngsters have turned out in huge numbers to support Udasi and my presence seems to have made his supporters happy," says Harshika.
The buzz though is that the actor declined campaigning for Geetha Shivrajkumar who is contesting on a JD(S) ticket from Shimoga.
"I want to put an end to all such base less allegations. I never said I wouldn't campaign for Geethakka. Shivanna is a close friend and I've even worked with him. I was sent feelers through people close to them, but never got a direct call from Shivanna. So I didn't know what to make of it and headed to Gadag where I was already committed to campaigning for Udasi. Had I got a call from Shivanna, I'd have rushed to Shimoga," says Harshika.
Given her active participation in the campaign and open affiliation towards the BJP, is it to be also understood that she's a Modi loyalist? "Yes I am a huge admirer of
Narendra Modi, more so because he's an excellent orator," says the actor who doesn't rule out a future in politics.
