Meghana Gaonkar who always wanted to be an actress, started learning acting at a drama school and has acted in many plays in English and Kannada at Rangashankara and Alliance Franchise, Bangalore. The experience in theatre acting got her an opportunity to perform in the Kannada film industry and it was not some supporting role but a lead character that she got to play in ‘Nam Areali Ondina’.

Meghana Gaonkar who was born in Kalaburgi completed her education in Bangalore. The actress used to participate in beauty contests for fun and even got crowned as Miss Garden City Bangalore and Miss Beautiful Smile in 2003. After this, she appeared as a host in several TV shows, which gained her huge popularity across Karnataka.

Meghana Gaonkar is not only an actress but also a great dancer known for her dancing skills in the Kannada film industry. She has learned different dance forms like Bharatnatyam, Kathak and most of the western forms. Before making her acting debut in Kannada, she also worked as an assistant instructor for seven years in a private dance company. Meghana has performed in many dance shows, and she has also performed in the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games that were held in Melbourne, Australia in 2006.
