Filmmaker Gurudutt (of Kiccha Huchcha fame) has been signed on to direct the Shivarajkumar-starrer Aryan. The film, which was to be the late director D Rajendra Babu’s big comeback vehicle, had been stuck for a while owing to the filmmaker’s unfortunate demise. Producers Nargis Babu and his son Kamar had told BT back then that the film would not be shelved and that they were looking at getting a senior director to complete Rajendra Babu’s dream project.
In the film, which also stars Ramya and Archanaa Guptaa, Shivarajkumar plays a sports coach and the makers wanted a director who could handle such a subject. “We consulted Shivanna and he suggested that we approach Gurudutt. He readily agreed to work on the film, and that too without suggesting any changes to the script,” says Kamar.
Gurudutt finds it an honour to complete Rajendra Babu’s unfinished project. “I am putting the finishing touches on the film, as Rajendra Babu had done most of the work. It will be a collaborative effort with Shivanna and co-director Somaraju to finish the film,” he says.
