Gurudatha Ganiga forays into Malayalam films with a film starring Urvashi
Having established himself in Kannada, filmmaker Gurudatha Ganiga is now set to make inroads into Malayalam cinema. The yet to be titled film will star veteran actor Urvashi in the lead and set to go on floors shortly. “It’s a great time for Indian cinema, because the pan India culture has paved for directors and artistes to collaborate with each other and go beyond borders. Now the time felt just right to make such a collaboration and that’s how I came on board this film,” shares Guru who will be backing the film. He further elaborates, “When Vishnu Satheeshan came to me with the script, I was so touched. It’s one of the most innocent stories I’ve heard in a long time. It’s a story of a mother and son and such stories are rarely told. I felt that’s all the more reason for us to narrate it and give the audience a taste of this innocence,” he tells us. While further details of the film are now being worked on, Guru is busy with the post production of his latest film Karavali, headlining Prajwal Devaraj, Raj B Shetty and Sushmitha Bhat besides also scripting Jugaari Cross. “I’m loving this cross cultural associations and looking forward to making more films in both Kannada and Malayalam,” she sums up.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
