The makers of the much-anticipated prequel 'Kantara: Chapter 1' have shared the first look of Bollywood actor Gulshan Devaiah. The actor steps into the role of Kulashekara, a character who will join the mystical universe that filmmaker Rishab Shetty first introduced in 2022 with 'Kantara.'Sharing the poster, the makers wrote, "Introducing @gulshandevaiah78 as 'KULASHEKARA' from the world of #KantaraChapter1. In Cinemas #KantaraChapter1onOct2".

Rishab Shetty returns to helm and act

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, 'Kantara Chapter 1' goes back in time to explore the roots of the story that were enjoyed by the viewers in the first installment. The director-actor will once again appear in a central role while also steering the narrative behind the camera. The film will further go back to the history of the origins of its mythology.

About 'Kantara Chapter 1'

The story is expected to go back to around 300 CE, during the Kadamba dynasty, with the film to explore folklore-rich traditions of coastal Karnataka.Rishab Shetty trained in horse-riding, Kalaripayattu, and sword fighting for the part.
He will be seen along with Jayaram, Rakesh Poojari, and recently announced Rukmini Vasanth in a leading role.Visually, the film is expected to maintain the immersive style that 'Kantara' is known for, with Arvind S. Kashyap handling cinematography. The atmospheric tone is set to be further enhanced by composer B. Ajaneesh Loknath as he composes the music.The film is scheduled for release worldwide on October 2, 2025. 'Kantara Chapter 1' will be available in multiple languages including Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English.
