Day Two of the south film industries' Centenary Celebrations of Indian cinema saw star-studded performances and felicitations for the Kannada film industry
Grand Kannada film celebrations at Chennai
Day Two of the south film industries' Centenary Celebrations of Indian cinema has kicked off on Sunday morning celebrities from the Kannada film industry performing onstage.
Veteran actress B Sarojadevi inaugurated the day's proceedings by lighting the lamp, after which the audience watched a visual presentation of the footsteps of the Kannada film industry.

Roopika and Aniruddh then danced to Jai Bharatha Jananiya Thanujaate, while Shruthi danced to Arrerere Gini Rama from Gandhadha Gudi. One of the highlights of the programme was the dance performance by veteran actresses Jayanthi and Leelavathi. Tara Venu, former president of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, danced to Baanallu Neenu from Bayalu Daari.
Veteran actress Bharathi Vishnuvardhan's onstage appearance was accompanied by the background score to Sahasa Simha from her late husband Dr Vishnuvardhan's film Aptharakshaka. She danced to her famous song Bala Bangara Neenu from Bhangarada Manushya starring Dr Rajkumar. Home Minister George, who was the chief guest for the event, thanked everyone for coming to Chennai and felicitated NK Venkatesh Murthy, Ashok, AH Bhatt, HD Gangaraju, AR Raju, KCN Chandru and HN Muddukrishna, among others.
The entertainment segment continued with Pankaj dancing to Tuvvi Tuvvi from Anand, Amoolya to Ullasada Hoomale and Vinod Raj to Dance Raja Dance. Excitement levels went up several notches when drummer Deva came onstage for a performance. After that, veteran music director Hamsalekha, choreographer Mugur Sundaram, BK Sumitra, music director Rajan, singer Rajesh Krishnan, cameraman JG Krishna, BS Basavaraj, stunt master Nanjudi Nagaraj and editor S Manohar were felicitated.
After the felicitation programme, Ramesh and Roopika came onstage danced to the Baare Santhege Hogona from Neenu Nakkare Haalu Sakkare. Harshika Poonacha then performed to Yakka Ninna Magalu from Victory. Soundarya's dance routine to Pyaarge Agbuttaithe also wowed the audience. Rishika Singh, Mohan and Vijay Raghavendra's performance to Pankaja Hudugaru got the crowd cheering some more. Anu Prabhakar and Naveen Krishna later danced to
Baji Katti from Sipayi Ramu, after which Anup Sa Ra Govind, Sanjjanaa and Shravanth danced to Naanu Paduvaralli Panchali. Arun Sagar also entertained the audience with his joker performance.
Harshika came onstage to perform to Onde Ondu Saari Mungaru Male, after which senior producers Basanth Kumar Patil, Manikchand, Jankiram, Musuri Son Jayasimha Musuri and Tulu producer KN Taylor were fecilitated. Rajesh Krishnan came onstage to sing a song, and that's when Kamal Haasan made his entrance as the special guest for the evening.
After felicitating veteran directors like SK Bhagawan, KSL Swamy, Vijaya Redy, Girish Kasaravalli and Bhagwan, Kamal addressed the gathering and said he also belonged to Kannada. After his speech, there was a performance by Srujan to the song Anithintha Gandu Nanalla from Bhanda Nanna Ganda. Ramesh Aravan and Bhavan danced to the tunes of Garane Garane from Aptharakshaka, after which Ragini danced to Jataka Kudure from Gajapathi Garvabhanga.
The final part of the programme was the felicitation and veteran artistes Srinath, Umesh, Rajesh, Shivaram, Harini, Jayanthi, B Sarojadevi, Sudarshan and others, after which the programme concluded.
