Here's a movie to remember
It is a sign of confidence that a debutant director of a commercial
If it is the director who crafts a memorable film, the actors have given it their soul. It is a superlative performance by Ananth Nag. His performance can make actors out of the audience. He should now be called nothing less than a living legend. And Achyuth is the future Ananth Nag. One more actor who impresses is Vashishta Simha. A s a gangster caught in a dilemma, he grows with the character. Rakshit Shetty deserves applause for this role. No heroism, no glam our and you begin by hating his character... Sruthi Hariharan never felt better. The director shows brilliance in characterisation of each character and manages to extract what is required from each actor. The songs are small montages that never interfere with the flow of the film. They add perspective to the narration.
A couple of minutes in the first half and a few more in the second could have been done away with. In a few places, the technique of blurring the conversations to show the character in focus as disinterested feels like a problem in the sound system.
Also, trying to be too realistic has made few of the scenes a little bit less colourful, but these are only minor irritants in an otherwise tightly packed, well-paced film. Finally, there is no reason why you should not watch this film.
Kannada
film has the protagonist suffering from Alzheimer's disease. And how bolder can you get if you reveal the basics of the plot in the title itself? An old man suffering from Alzheimer's being lost made one wonder if it was inspired by the Marathi film Astu. Yet, no, GBSM is also much more than a son's search for his missing father. It is the story of a father-son relationship. It is also the story of criminals getting lost, both in deeds and in life. It is a thriller in that sense. It is also a love story that you learn from. The film's characters are so dense and the simple incidents so detailed that you will be compelled to watch it again. It is unbelievable how the film has panned out, making it a must-watch.A couple of minutes in the first half and a few more in the second could have been done away with.
