From Upendra to Shivarajkumar: Kannada film stars who took to farming during the Coronavirus lockdown

The Coronavirus pandemic has seen many people going back to the villages for fresh air and even started doing agriculture. Most of the Kannada star actors already own farmhouses and are known to visit them on weekends and holidays to spend some quiet time. Now, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many stars from the Kannada film industry have taken off to these farmhouses for a longer period and have been indulging in farming to put their free time to good use. Let’s take a look at some stars from Upendra to Shivarajkumar, who have been spending their lockdown time farming.

Upendra

Actor Upendra who always had an interest in farming has got some time to pursue his hobby thanks to the lockdown. Upendra has been busy with multiple movies in the Kannada film industry, but since all of them have been suspended for a while, the actor has been spending time growing vegetables at his farmhouse since the lockdown began. At the start of the lockdown, Upendra had planted some vegetables and after two months, he has grown cucumber, chilli, brinjal and some flowers. Upendra uploaded the video on his social media handle, which got huge appreciation.

Darshan

Actor Darshan who always spends time at the farmhouse near Mysore while interacting with animals, has started farming during the Coronavirus pandemic. Darshan has been feeding cows, sheep, birds, horses and also milking the cows. Darshan who always knows the importance of agriculture has encouraged people to buy vegetables directly from the farmers. He once tweeted and said, “Lockdown has been announced across the country. Farmers across the state are selling their grown vegetables directly to the customers without any intermediaries. Let's buy vegetables from farmers and save farmers. I think they should get what they deserve, it's my humble request.”

Producer Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah

Kannada film industry’s popular producer Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah is known for producing movies like ‘Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu’, ‘Kirik Party’, ‘Avane Srimanarayana’, ‘Humble Politician Nograj’ among others. During the lockdown, the producer shared with his followers on social media that he was interested in farming and had begun studying and scientifically helping a farmer. Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah has started to explore farming in fields and helping farmers to grow crops in scientific ways. He has also started farming himself.

Shivarajkumar and R Chandru

Actor Shivarajkumar who has an interest in farming, recently visited director R Chandru’s farm. Shivarajkumar and wife Geetha visited the farmhouse near Kolar and spent the whole day there. He also explored and gained knowledge of silk farming. Shivarajkumar admired Chandru’s balance between cinema and agriculture.
