From ramp to reel, Priyanka’s dream has come true
Mysuru girl Priyanka always dreamt of walking the runway. And once there, she wanted to make the gradual shift into acting. Looks like her dreams will be translated into reality after all, as the 18-year-old will be making her TV debut shortly in the soon-to-be-launched serial Krishna Tulasi. “In fact, my first modeling offer came when I was just 15. A luxury car was being launched in Mysuru and they wanted me to model for it. From then on, I did various campaigns and even represented India on the runway in Europe,” says Priyanka. And even though she wanted to take up more professional modeling assignments, the fact that she was still under 18 became a hurdle. “That’s when I got a call from the makers of Krishna Tulasi, and I was asked to come for an audition. Soon, I got to know that I had been selected. I never thought my dreams of entering acting would materialise this soon,” she adds. Her character in the serial is that of a high-society girl who spells class falling in love with a tapori. “Tulasi is a lot like me — thoroughly pampered, everyone’s
pet and her brother’s favourite. Her mission in life is to find a bride for her brother and her brother too seeks to find a groom for Tulasi. But she ends up falling in love with Krishna, who comes from a different background altogether,” explains the debutante. The team has been shooting for the show since the past two months, and it’s been a joy ride thus far. “The team looks after me so well. All my friends in the industry are saying I’m lucky to have found a team that cares about me. I don’t even miss home anymore. I feel at home on the sets and I’ve found a second set of family,” she sums up.
