The story is about the KGF goldfield and how the protagonist occupies the KGF goldfield for power. The movie earned more than Rs 250 crore across the world. Even though it was a remake, the film had its own strengths. Jaggesh played a different and unique role in the movie. It is a story of a police officer who loses his gun and lands up as a common man. He uses the gun to rob the bank and kills several people.

Shivarajkumar played the strong role in the movie, where he showed a different shade of his acting skills. The movie was also remade in Tamil starring Silambarasan and Gautham Karthik.
