First Love is a true story that took place at a college in Gulbarga

Lead actor Rajesh speaks about his debut film - First Love
First Love is a true story that took place at a college in Gulbarga
It’s a day of reckoning for actor Rajesh today, as his film, First Love, hits theatres. As a radio jockey doling out words of wisdom in the matters of the heart, Rajesh is a very popular name among people here. But that’s where it ends — he has been a name, and now, he is set to put a face to that name and see if these same people and others, will accept him as an actor as well.

Produced by Aditya Productions, First Love, says Rajesh, became his as the makers, like many of his regular radio show listeners, were enamoured by his voice and thought that as an acting novice, he would bring an element of innocence to the character. “I was chosen for my voice and the fact that I am not a trained actor. The makers felt that I was best suited for the character. Going by the title, and the fact that I have two heroines in the film, audiences are likely to think that First Love is a love triangle, but it is not. Yes, our film is a celebration of love, but it is about the love you find in other relationships in your life. The film is, actually, based on a true story that occurred in the director Malli’s best friend’s life while studying at the Gulbarga Medical College,” explains Rajesh, adding that he is excited and nervous about his debut.
A clean family entertainer, the film, he adds, is a musical love story, which makes composer Sridhar V Sambhram’s contribution to it absolutely vital. “The songs and their picturization will be a treat for audiences. My personal favourite is Kanasina Kitakiya, which has been written by Jayanth Kaikini. The songs have also taken us across wonderful locations in Agra, Sakleshpur, Bidar, Vijayapur, etc., which make for a visual spectacle,” he adds.

As a subject,
First Love will appeal to everyone as they will be able to relate to incidents, as they will feel that it is their own story or that of someone known to them. That apart, having a popular love guru in a love story seemed to be a good idea and Rajesh has done a fantastic job.
