Actress Namitha Rao is pinning hopes on her upcoming Kannada film Chitramandiradalli, an experimental film directed by debutant director Venkatachala. The film, she says, will be appreciated by both mass and class audiences as the concept is offbeat. “Chitramandiradalli is not a regular masala film. It is an experimental attempt by Venkatachala.
The film has a powerful script with well-etched out characters,” says Namitha, a
trained classical dancer. Does her confidence stem from the fact that offbeat films like Lucia and Jatta are being appreciated by audiences? “Good films will always be admired. Unfortunately, films with good content at times fail at the box-office.” As for her role in the film, in which she has been paired opposite Shankar Aryan, Namitha says, “My role forms the backbone of the film. My character helps the hero fulfill his dreams.” Since it’s an unconventional film that deals with the world of cinema, the actress tells us that the entire cast went through rehearsal schedules before facing the camera to make their roles as convincing as possible onscreen. “I worked with a very professional team and everything was well-planned before the shooting took place,” she adds.
