Films cannot be preachy, that’s why I go for commercial films: Nanda Kishore
Filmmaker Nanda Kishore, who has a penchant for commercial films, is back with Raana, releasing in cinema halls across Karnataka on Friday. The project has Shreyas Manju and Reeshma Nanaiah in lead roles.
Nanda Kishore says, “The plot revolves around a youngster, played by Shreyas Manju, who aspires to become police inspector. But to fulfil his dream, he has to overcome several obstacles, which brings thriller and action elements into play. Apart from the initial 15 minutes which sets up the plot, viewers will be engrossed.”
On his love for mass entertainers, he says: “Films cannot be preachy and the advantage of such films is we can reach out to a large number of people of all ages which no other genre offers. I can frankly say that mass entertainers are my forte which I have been exploring since my first film and which has fetched me success as well. So, I don’t mind sticking to the same genre.”
Another highlight of Raana is the makers have roped in local artistes, “When it comes to songs, we have consciously chosen aspiring singers Karibasava Tadakal for Udho Udho Huligemma song, Aniruddha Shastry and Adithi Sagar for Gully Boy, and Divya Ramachandra for the Malli Malli number. Chandan Shetty has done a fantastic re-recording which is an x-factor. We even picked actors from the Kannada industry.”
On casting Shreyas Manju, which is his second outing, he said: “He has all the traits to become a pucca commercial hero which can be seen in Raana. Shreyas is on the mark in stunts and emotional sequences. He is a terrific dancer as well,” he signs off.
