Manoranjan Ravichandran is excited to enter the next phase of his life. Come next weekend, the actor is all set to get married to Sangeeta in a low-key wedding ceremony.
“It’s an arranged marriage and Sangeeta is s distant relative. I am 34 now and my family thinks I’m over the hill already. Because in our family, everyone, including the boys, get married by 27. I’m the only one who is tying the knot this late,” says Manoranjan.
He jokes how his family was always open to him finding someone on his own, “But I never brought home anyone to meet the parents and that’s that,” he laughs. The actor tells us that his mother has been on the lookout for a bride for him for a while now and when Sangeeta’s proposal came their way, the families felt it should be taken forward.
“They met and then Sangeeta and I met, and everything clicked. Howeverm it’s not like it happened suddenly; we got to know each other and especially because I am an actor, I felt she should be given time to know me. I, on the other hand, instinctively knew that she was the one,” states Manoranjan.
Sangeeta is a working professional and Manoranjan is happy that she is doing what she loves. “She is marrying an actor who will be working with many heroines and have outdoor shoots, and the kind of implicit trust she has in me is touching. I realised in the first few meetings that she is someone who will stand by me through thick and thin. I couldn’t have found anyone more understanding and caring. Besides I wanted someone simple and Sangeeta embodies it to the T,” avers Manoranjan.
The wedding will be held on August 21, prior to which, on August 20, the bride’s family will hold a reception, followed by another reception hosted by Ravichandran on August 22. And they will be closely-knit affairs, we are told. “My sister Anju’s wedding was a grand one, because as the girl’s side, we chose to do it that way. But Sangeeta’s family is far removed from films and want a low-profile wedding, so we want to respect their wishes,” he concurs.
As for the bride, Manoranjan shares that the family is already fond of her and she shares a great rapport with his parents. “As of now, I’m going with the flow. And also protecting her privacy at all costs. She’s media shy, but I’ve told her that we can’t help get the attention,” smiles Manoranjan.
