Exclusive: Director Kiranraj takes on impersonator over phone call

Director Kiranraj K faced some tense moments recently when an impersonator claiming to be the director of 777 Charlie called senior Malayalam actor Mala Parvati and asked for her dates.
“Apparently, he had been making repeated calls to ma’am under the pretext of making a film and offering her a role. And he introduced himself as Kiranraj K, the director of 777 Charlie,” shares Kiranraj K, who is still reeling from it all.Mala Parvati then happened to speak with MR Rajakrishnan, sound designer, who was associated with 777 Charlie. “Ma’am got in touch with Raja sir to confirm if it was indeed I who was calling her. And when he conveyed this to me, I was shocked. After clarifying to ma’am about the issue, we decided to get on a conference call and Mala ma’am called the guy and asked him to reconfirm his details. He again mentioned he was Kiranraj and that’s when I confronted him. The director tells us that while this incident came to his notice and being a senior actor, Mala Parvati ably handled the issue. But there may be young aspirants who may fall for such traps. “I am a responsible citizen of this society. And, as a moviemaker, I don’t endorse such behaviour. Young talent, especially girls, must not get misled. That is my only concern. I’m aware he’s approached others too; never entertain such calls,” says Kiranraj.
