Director D Rajendra Babu, who in his nearly three-decade old career, made over 50 films, predominantly in Kannada, with an outing each in Hindi and Malayalam too, passed away on Sunday morning (November 3), following a massive heart attack at the MS Ramaiah Hospital. The filmmaker was set to return to active filmmaking with the Shivarajkumar and Ramya-starrer
Aryan, which is currently under production, after a brief hiatus.
In fact,
Ramya was among the first to tweet her condolences. "Really saddened.. D rajendra babu sir was such a nice person.. Spoke to him a while ago he was supportive of my new responsibility," she wrote.
As news of his death spread, his friends from the industry started tweeting condolence messages, while also wishing strength to his family.
Rajendra Babu, who began his career as an actor and soon moved behind the camera, boasts quite the filmography, having directed most of the industry's A-listers, including Shivarajkumar,
Sudeep and
Upendra, among others.
