Today, India celebrates
Hindi Diwas, which has been a day that has grown in importance and stature. While the day has been trending online, there are many actors from across different states who have joined other linguists and activists in their protest against Hindi imposition in the country. While Constitutionally India does not have a single national language, these activists protest on Hindi being imposed on everyone and have been protesting using their own native languages to talk about the diversity of the nation and how each of them identifies with the nation, but are happy to identify using their roots that are in their own respective languages.
Some of the people who have spoken against this Hindi imposition in the country include actors Dhananjaya,
Prakash Raj and Vasishta N Simha, who have taken to their social media handles to share their opinions on this topic and Hindi Diwas in their own styles.
Hashtags like #StopHindiImposition #ServeInMyLanguage were trending on Monday, along with Hindi Diwas.
