I have found my dream man: Deepika Kamaiah
When
The match, interestingly, was arranged by her folks. 'Like most young eligible Indian women, I also had been getting proposals for a while, which I had been rejecting. But when Sumanth's came along, my parents suggested that I consider it, as he was the son of my dad's friend. Since he lives in Australia, our initial interactions were over videotelephony, and he apparently thought that I was rather arrogant, while I found him cute. Over the course of our conversations, I was my usual talkative self, while he was reserved, which got me wondering whether he was a boring person. But then, slowly, we warmed up to each other and I realized that he's just as talkative and energetic as I am and that there was a spark between us. I have found my dream man,' says the actress.
Once she was sure that she liked him, Deepika spoke to her folks, who were happy with her choice. 'Sumanth then flew down to meet me, which was perhaps two months after we first spoke. He went back to Australia and returned later with his parents for an official 'meet the folks', during which he also went down on one knee to ask for my hand in marriage with a solitaire. I said yes,' she says.
With her beau slated to be in town for about a month between November and December, Deepika is currently trying to figure out a date at the venue of her choice. 'I wanted an open setting and have settled on a resort in the city, but the date I have zeroed in doesn't work out at the venue. I am set to fly to Australia by mid-December, so we are looking at an end-of-November wedding,' says Deepika.
The wedding, she adds, will be an intimate affair, with only close family and friends in attendance. 'I have always wanted a themed south Indian wedding and ours is going to be in traditional Telugu style, with orange, yellow, gold and off white being the colours that we and the guests will be sporting. The haldi function will be in typical Punjabi style, while the cocktail party after the wedding will have an English theme. I have a bunch of friends handling most of the nitty gritties, so I am concentrating on shopping for my trousseau and winding up all my professional commitments,' says Deepika.
