In June, Sandalwood's maverick filmmaker Pawan Kumar launched an online platform titled Filmmakers' United Club (FUC). Over the month, there was a filmmaker who was inducted into this club daily, which includes newbies with just one or two films under their belt to even senior ones like Yogaraj Bhat, Shashank and
KM Chaitanya
. The team has a been generating a lot of intrigue as to what they plan to do ever since. It is told that there are over 200 filmmakers currently who have applied for membering and awaiting approval.
Today, though, a controversy of sorts has erupted, with
filmmaker Dayal Padmanabhan
alleging foul play in the induction process. Dayal took to his Facebook page to write: Hi mates...! I guess that my works as a filmmaker in Kannada Film industry have not impressed the ( few) fellow filmmakers of
Filmmakers United Club
to accept me as a filmmaker and grant me membership..! Now I have another task as a filmmaker to make quality films to get certified/ accepted as a filmmaker by ( few ) filmmakers from F.U.C ..! ������������..! Do you feel that I have lots of better work to do instead of making films for them to prove?
NOTE: I come to the conclusion about unacceptance of my membership and post this expression.
After applying for the membership in June first week and got a diplomatic reply from filmmaker Pawan Kumar ( pls refer the mail sent by him ! ) on June 16th..! And no more communication after that till now!
Filmmaker Pawan Kumar, who started the platform, later took to his Facebook page to go live and said that there was no such foul play and that it was a democratic process and that there is a wait list and that no one has been denied membership. In his emotional post, he did get angry saying that people seem to be making an unnecessary issue out of this and this was a non-for-profit effort that he and a few filmmakers with similar interests have got together and that he feels delighted that a person of Dayal's stature, who is senior to him, is keen on joining it.
Dayal's reply to this rebuttal by Pawan is awaited.
