Darshan to play a freedom fighter yet again

Actor Darshan is all set to play revolutionary freedom fighter Sindhoora Lakshmana in his next film. The actor is reuniting with Kaatera director Tharun Sudhir for the project. This will be Darshan’s third historical film, after Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna and Kurukshetra. Sindhoora Lakshmana, an 18th century revolutionary fighter, fought in the independence movement against British colonial rule in India. He is regarded as one of the most valiant freedom fighters from Karnataka, and a character that people look up to with reverence.
Tharun says he is elated to be collaborating with Darshan for the fourth time. “Darshan has already portrayed the role of revolutionary Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna. But while Rayanna was more of a war hero, Lakshmana was a Robin Hood of sorts. This will be a different experience altogether,” he says. Tharun adds that the subject matter of the film adds to his elation. “I have watched my dad play Lakshmana thousands of times on stage. There, it was dialogue-oriented. Cinema is a visual medium. Our challenge now is to give the best visual experience by retelling the story with grandiose. We also need to be historically and factually accurate.”
