Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa was recently granted bail on medical grounds in connection with the
murder case of his fan, Renukaswamy. The actor, who turned 48 on February 16, shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support during his challenging times.
In his social media post written in Kannada,
Darshan referred to his followers as "celebrities" and thanked them for believing in him despite the controversies surrounding the murder case. He acknowledged the charitable acts many fans performed on his birthday, which deeply touched him. Darshan also shared that their love and encouragement are invaluable treasures in his life, making him feel enlightened and grateful.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Darshan wrote, "Dear Celebrities. No matter how much I say about you, it feels like it is too little. For the unversed, the Challenging Star was arrested on June 11, 2024, after Renukaswamy's body was discovered bearing multiple injuries. Reports indicated that Renukaswamy had allegedly sent inappropriate messages to
Pavithra Gowda, an associate of Darshan, which led to a violent confrontation. The investigation implicated Darshan and several others, resulting in their arrest.
After spending time in jail and facing public scrutiny, Darshan was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court on December 13, 2024. His fans gathered outside hospitals and his residence to show their support. Darshan requested that fans refrain from gathering at his home to ensure safety and privacy during this sensitive period.
Recently the makers released the teaser of his upcoming film titled 'The Devil' on his birthday. The teaser released showcased Darshan in a menacing role as a gangster.
